minor earth, major sky.

I seem to take a lot of sky pictures around this time of year-- as summer comes to an end & autumn approaches, it's almost as if the sky reflects the changes that are taking place on the earth below. the colours are deeper & more vibrant, & the clouds themselves are sharper, more there, somehow. whatever it is, it always draws my hands to my camera and my eyes upward, to try & capture those all-too fleeting moments when you can see one season slip away & another take its place.

the sunrise this morning was a perfect example: for the space of time between one breath & the next, it almost seemed as if the sky had been set alight & left to burn with a wild & furious beauty. these two shots are straight out of the camera-- no filters have been used, nor any other tweaking done to them. what you get is exactly what I saw. just amazing.



and at the other end of the day, there's the sunset-- even more gorgeous colour that builds slowly to a breath-taking crescendo, & then gracefully fades to black.
